Finding your way

Both surfaces hide pages your role cannot open, so what you see is what you can actually reach. On a phone the sidebar is replaced entirely by the bottom bar and its Menu tab; the mobile layout takes over at 780 pixels wide or narrower, which is every phone in portrait. A technician’s bottom bar is My Jobs, Jobs, Ask Des and Menu instead, and a membership business (a gym or a studio) has no Jobs tab.

Ads is included in DeskOps and appears when DeskOps access is active. Fence owners open locates, callbacks, commercial bids and insights from Jobs → Field ops. There is one Jobs entry; old Jobs & Ops links open that view. A membership business (a gym or a studio) has no Jobs page. Businesses needs a second business. Everything else is there from day one.

Money in is where connected processors land. If a payment came in outside a connected processor, log it by hand — see "How do I log a payment I took in cash".

The page used to be called Books and the old links /invoices, /quotes and /recurring still work — they redirect into the right tab of Get Paid, and /recurring lands on Contracts. Deep links look like /books?tab=invoices. The Settings tab holds your invoice, quote and contract settings in one place.

That perimeter is drawn around account controls, money administration and personal financial information: your net worth, your tax position, your business record, your billing, and customer message bodies. The rest of the app is shared with the team, filtered by each person's role — a technician, for example, sees their own jobs and schedule rather than the money pages.

Profit needs both sides of the ledger to mean anything. If revenue is landing but no costs are attached, DeskOps will not print a margin percentage — it says the margin is unknown rather than showing a fake 100%.

The Cash forecast is the 365-day cash calendar, included in DeskOps with no separate feature charge. It was called Foresight; same page, same link. Only the owner can open it, because it shows your running cash position.

Customers from every connected processor are unified into one list, so the same person paying you through Stripe and through QuickBooks shows up once.

You get one active goal per metric — revenue, customers, cost per lead and so on — so the page never turns into a wish list nobody looks at. Progress tracks against your real numbers as they land, and hitting one is called out rather than passing silently.

Add-ons is where paid extras live: the Plan pane for the plan rungs that add assists and storage, and the Add-ons pane for additional businesses, a third bank connection and voice-call packs. AI Partner Email is included in DeskOps and opens from Emails. Team seats are not bought here — a seat is billed when you invite someone from Settings → Team & seats. It is owner-only. Deep links go straight to one add-on, for example /add-ons?tab=addons#third-bank. It was called Boost; old /boost links still open it.

Connections is the source-backed record of what DeskOps has actually done for the business — what is connected, what was imported, and what has been organised and verified. Connections is not the setup guide: it explains evidence and capability history, while Home decides whether an owner has a verified next setup action. Owner and team members can both see Connections because it is business evidence, not personal finances.

It used to be called Proof (and before that Progress, or Data sources on a phone). Same page; old /proof links open it.

Finish setting up is an owner-only, data-derived guide. In your first week it lists up to three next steps beside the one at the top of Home, and each explains why it matters before it opens the exact field. After the first week it stays out of the app unless something you are doing is blocked. It is absent when nothing is both relevant and verified. The small cards that appear where you work (Get Paid, quotes, invoices) have Not now, which hides that item for seven days; completion always requires a fresh read of the underlying business fact.

Settings is owner-only on both. The two layouts are genuinely different right now — the desktop tab names and the mobile row names do not match one-for-one, so ask for the one you are on.
