Does removing a saved card cancel a payment in progress?
Removal blocks later use in DeskOps before contacting Stripe, and the customer is emailed a confirmation naming the card. Customers can also remove it themselves from the link in their emails; you are notified when they do. The agreement and charge records are kept seven years. It does not cancel a payment already in progress; that email says so when one had started, and invoice History shows its outcome. A failed status update remains unresolved until it is checked again. Keep the customer’s request in mind before collecting another payment: removing a saved card does not refund an earlier charge or cancel the invoice.
Saved-card and automatic-payment confirmations name your business and include the exact authorization the customer signed, including older versions. Stripe holds the card number; your business does not see it. DeskOps keeps the card's brand, last four digits and the authorization for your business; Stripe holds the full card number. The confirmation links to the Privacy Policy. Changing the email wording never changes an existing signed authorization.
