Can I keep a customer's card on file and charge it later?

Send a “save a card” link, or the customer chooses Save a card on an eligible invoice's payment page. They enter the card and explicitly agree on Stripe's secure page; DeskOps never receives its number. Saving does not charge it or automatically pay invoices. On an unpaid invoice that has been emailed to that customer, choose their card and explain the charge; the agreement promises they see the invoice first. The receipt identifies amount, card and reason; History names the actor. A split payer needs their own identity and consent: a homeowner's card cannot pay an insurer's share. A decline charges nothing. Bank confirmation requires canceling the original attempt before offering a new payment link. An uncertain outcome stays pending; elapsed time does not prove failure. If a successful charge needs bookkeeping recovery, the same payment finishes recording without another charge. Wait for confirmation before collecting again. Use the invoice's Refund action. Delayed confirmation cannot erase a refund; history preserves the cumulative refunded amount.
